When you talk about the adoption process and what it looks like, it can seem a little complicated. So, I am going to try and simplify what the process looks like and where we currently are in it. There are basically three phases in our adoption process.
Raise $6700 for Home Study, Dossier, and Immigration Fees
Complete Home Study
Complete Dossier paperwork and turn in to the country we are adopting from
Complete Immigration paperwork
Raise $10,000 for Country Fee
You are assigned a child, and upon acceptence of the child you are referred the Country Fee is due.
Raise $5,000 to $10,000 Travel Fees (depending on the time of year and other variables)
Wait to be issued a travel date to go and get our little girl.
This is a super simplified layout of how it will look for us over this next year and a half to two years, but it gives you a basic idea. We are currently in Phase 1, working on raising the $6700 so we can proceed with our paperwork and Home Study. We cannot apply for any grants or financial assistance until the Home Study is done, so raising this $6700 is all on us.
While these numbers seem daunting at times, we know that this adoption is something that God has put on our hearts to do. The money will come! We don't know from where. It may come through fundraising, grants, gifts from friends and even gifts from people we have never met before but who want to be a part of a little girl getting her forever family.
This is going to be a year of miracles! The impossible will become possible!!
